Teaching Consultant, GSVL Virtual Learning

Now, in the face of mass school closures, our product and expertise have become central to many more families, teachers, and organizations than ever before. 


The Role 

A teacher engages critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning. They generally do so competently and creatively work with the parents, students, and other stakeholders.


Preparation


  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to given lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with parents and students).
  • Participates in the preparation of lessons. 


Teaching

 

  • Consult with team members and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student understanding.
  • Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
  • Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”.


Assessment 

 

  • Complete all grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and other Consultants on a regular basis to develop and update schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects.
  • Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects.

 


Records management 

 

  • Keep student records and data up to date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, and logging of all student and parent contacts.
  • Roll calls learners for each lesson taught and follow up the absentee learners. 


Recruitment of learners 


  • Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and curriculum specialists through use of computer and telephone.

 

Qualifications

 

  • A Degree in Education.
  • Certificate in Computer programmes or modules is an added advantage.

 

Required experience and competencies

  • At least 2 years’ experience in any certified School or institution.
  • Strong technology skills (with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs, Google Workspace, Online Learning, Video Conferencing).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Highly organized and punctual.
  • Customer focused approach.
  • High degree of flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work remotely.
  • Availability to work as per the daily scheduled hours.
  • Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
